There are a strict set of procedures that we will follow in my classroom. These are used to ensure that students are not being disruptive to others during instruction. They are also used to help maintain and promote student responsibility and preparedness. The classroom procedures will be as follows:

Seating - students will sit in their assigned seats at all times when we are not working in centers or gathered at the front of the class for our class meeting.

Bathroom - there will be a girls and boys bathroom pass hanging by the door to our classroom. Students will be allowed to use the bathroom when needed so long as they ask. There will be one girls pass and one boys pass, no more than two students are to be gone from class at any time using the bathroom. We will take 2 bathroom breaks as a class each day.

Pencils & Sharpening - students are welcome to use the pencil sharpener when they need to however there should not be more than one student at any time using the pencil sharpener.

Supplies - students are expected to come to class ready to learn everyday and with the necessary supplies needed. However, if a student comes to class without a pencil or paper, I will have a supply shopping station where students can exchange 3 warm fuzzies for a pencil and some paper.

Entering & Exiting the classroom - students should always act in a respectful manner. When entering and exiting the class, they should do so quietly so as not to disrupt their fellow students. Should a student enter or exit the classroom in a disruptive manner, that will result in a level 2 punishment.

Distributing materials - during the distribution of materials, I will use that time to engage the students by asking them a question about what we learned. They should remain seated or use that time to use the washroom or sharpen their pencils.

Visitors - students should always be prepared for a surprise visitor. They should act the same way they would if the visitor was not there during the duration of their visit.

Being absent - if a student is absent, they should immediately visit the "what did I miss" bulleting board where there will be one folder for each day of the week. Students should gather the materials from the day or days they were absent. If a student is absent for more than 2 days, they should see the teacher to make arrangements to get additional help. Students will have the number of days they were absent plus one to make up the missed work.

Standards for papers - students should complete their assignments to the best of their ability. I will reserve time at the beginning of each day to answer questions and will be available via e-mail and before school should they want to arrange for additional help. There will not be a lot of papers to write but for any assignments involving writing, I expect proper spelling to be used.

Beginning of the year - at the beginning of the year, we will discuss as a class the rules, expectations, rewards, punishments and procedures so that every student understands what is expected of them in my class.

Walking in the hall - students should proceed through the hall way quietly so as not to disrupt surrounding classrooms.

Class supplies - class supplies are to be treated with respect and put away appropriately and in their correct place. Failure to do so may result in a loss of a warm fuzzy from the class jar.

Snack time - students should sit at their desk and enjoy their snack and talk with their fellow table. At the end of snack time ALL garbage should be thrown away and their tables cleared of any crumbs or evidence of snack time (remember, keeping a clean work space is a class rule!!)
